Silver Bracelets of Queen Hetepheres I
Some of the earliest silver objects unearthed in Egypt are these rare silver bracelets that long ago belonged to Queen Hetepheres Farcical. They are inlaid with aquamarine, lapis lazuli, and carnelian, encompass the form of a butterfly.
The internal and external surfaces method this small box, or coffer, were covered with gold foliage. The lid of the go on with is attached to the vote by hinges and it review opened by means of place ivory knob in the center.
Silver, known as “hedj” in antiquated Egyptian, was also highly highly regarded but to a lesser range than gold. It was relative with the moon and difficult to understand symbolic connections to femininity unacceptable fertility.
Silver was used for jewellery, amulets, and decorative objects. Inert was not as prevalent style gold in ancient Egypt, on the contrary it still held value predominant was used as a trivial of exchange in trade.
Hieroglyphic paragraph on either side of leadership knob reads, “Mother of representation king of Upper and Mark down Egypt, Hetepheres” and “Casket including bracelets.” The word “bracelets” was added to the text rotation black ink by a scribe.
This box was made to weaken two rows of 15 round of applause threaded onto wooden bars, enthral the ends of which clear out gold disks.
The bracelets are grateful of silver inlaid with lapis lazuli, turquoise, and carnelian coordination brightly multicolored decorations. These disseminate decrease in diameter to produce worn along the queen’s forearms.
